When were you born Gourgouri from Syros?

Gourgouris is another stray kitten. We do not know where he was born or who the cat was that gave birth to him. He just survived and appeared in front of us one morning, specifically outside the We Live Together clinic. A neighbour gave him food and water for two days when the clinic was closed, and on Monday, I told us about his existence.

The road in front of the clinic, a bustling expressway for the island, posed a significant threat to Gourgouris. With a school crossing just 200 meters away, it was a perilous place for a small kitten. We can only speculate that he was found there, as it’s unlikely someone would have left him in our yard, where he could have easily become a casualty of passing cars.

With great success, Gourgouris hid for two days under the cars and inside their engines and only came out to eat. He meowed loudly, and young Markos, guided by the cat’s hunger, set a trap to catch him. Our friend Galina was a supporter of Markos.

Finally, the solution was given by our veterinarian, Manolis, and the hole was filled with ‘fish,’ namely Gourgouris. The mission’s first stage had been achieved, and Gourgouris was saved and would not end up by some car wheel.

Gourgouris, initially reserved and collected, quickly adapted to his new environment. His transformation was marked by the emergence of loud purrs, which inspired his name. He is now a healthy, cuddly, and playful kitten whose energy and curiosity are outgrowing his current living space.
